Sexual Harassment Lawsuit
We are pleased to report that a 3.5M settlement has been reached in a sexual harassment lawsuit against an Irvine-based call center, Alorica, Inc. What makes this EEOC-related settlement unusual is that allegations of sex harassment were filed by both men and women, totaling 44 employees. Females alleged that supervisors, managers and co-workers would leer at them by looking down their shirts, exposing themselves or openly propositioning them for sex. Male employees claimed that some females asked them about their sexual position preferences.
The alleged acts of harassment occurred in Fresno and Clovis, not at corporate in Irvine. Part of the settlement included hiring an external monitor to prevent future happenings. Of note, funds from the settlement will be distributed according to the strength of each case. It is not clear who will make that decision.
